Hi mates,
How's life?
It's summer in Adelaide and I feel good.
I personally confess that this is the first time for me to write in this blog again after couple years ago. I think that it will be interesting if I share my first moment heading to Adelaide. It is widely known that Adelaide is located in the southern part of Australia. This is a livable place with outgoing people and claimed as the cheapest expenditure city in Australia. I'm beginning my M.Ed program in The University of Adelaide full-time for 2 years. I want to tell you about some of useful information when the first time I came here, they are about the weather, transports, and campus life.
Firstly, I arrived to Adelaide on Wednesday 8th February 2017. I was so surprised when I went to the parking area of Adelaide Airport, the temperature was very hot. My colleague from PPIA (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia Australia) said that it was 42 degrees and there was a heatwave until the next 2 days. It was like the wind brought hot air and burnt my skin. People said that we should apply sunscreen in order to protect our skin from sunlight which can trigger skin cancer. After coming to my housemate's unit, I directly took a shower but I was sweaty immediately. It was uncomfortable even I frequently change my clothes which became wet, so we need to turn the AC on to get colder.
The following day, my housemate accompanied me to go to campus to activate my student ID and metro card. The function of student ID is not only for recognizing you as a university student but also for access to several building where you are studying at. This means that you only have access to any specific building, not all. Besides, metro card is a card that you can use to get transports. The price for the card is $3.50 and $60.90 for unlimited access during 28 days. It's affordable for students who live far from campus because if you don't have the unlimited one, you will pay the bus tickets for about $2 when the bus comes before 09.00 a.m and after 03.00 p.m. Moreover, I'm really sure that you want to go everywhere like shopping, tourist attraction, or just visiting to your friends. Therefore, metro card helps you be more thrifty.
Talking about campus life, it is an awesome experience for me to be here. It is supported by cutting-edge technology like you can connect with campus with your Mail student made by uni. The staffs will send you current news regularly to let you be updated about activities in campus. You can monitor your courses and assignments through MyUni account as well. Additionally, you can go to Access Adelaide to plan your courses, pay your tuition fees, and many other activities. It's easy and you can connect whenever, wherever. Moreover, the buildings and environment are clean and comfy knowing that it is a free-smoking area. Some of the buildings are constructed with unique architecture like in the past era. In fact, The University of Adelaide is the third oldest uni in Australia built in 1800s. And absolutely this is the best place to take some pictures to memorize this unforgettable moments.
In short, I'm so blessed to study here and experience the weather, mobilization, and campus life. Many new things I can get from Adelaide and hopefully my study life is fantastic as well. For those who want to pursue your study abroad, Adelaide will be the best place for you ever.
Keep fighting...
